Superhero Sunday : Wonder Woman - The Hiketeia

One of my favorite (and in my opinion, sexiest) Wonder Woman moments.

When Wonder Woman learns that Danielle has killed the drug dealers who murdered Danielle's sister, Diana suddenly finds herself at odds with the Batman, who has been relentlessly hounding Danielle, to bring her to justice. The story culminates to the point where Bats has the young girl cornered. Wonder Woman tackles him, knocking him to the ground.
Batman, with his skull pinned under one of the most deadliest (and most sexiest) boots on the planet, admits defeat to Wonder Woman.
He then proceeds to repeat the vow of Hiketeia to Wonder Woman. An ingenious move, that requires not only the balls to kiss Wonder Woman’s thigh (Rawrrrrr) but the intelligence to know the ancient Greek ritual to begin with. Wonder Woman sees through his ploy and kicks him to the side of the road.
The entire Greek ritual of Hiketeia is a perfect platform to put all three players; Batman, Wonder Woman and the vindictive, fugitive Danielle, in between the proverbial Rock and a Hard Place.

Satire Saturday : George Carlin

George Carlin is, by far, my personal favorite comedian of all time. This is one of my favorites of his skits, "Cats and Dogs". I promise, if you take the time to watch this video, it will be the best 10 minutes of your day. Enjoy.

Film Friday : Tekkonkinkreet

"In Treasure Town, life can be both peaceful and violent. This is never truer than for our heroes, Black and White - two street kids who claim to traverse the urban city as if it were their own. But in this town, an undercurrent of evil exists and has its sights set on the pair of brothers, forcing them to engage in battle with an array of old-world Yakuza as well as dangerous assassins vying to rule the decaying metropolis, Treasure Town." (plot summary from the back of the box)

Tekkonkinkreet is one of the best anime movies ever. The story of Black and White originated as an awesome Manga. It's film adaptation is a visually stunning experience. I got very emotionally involved when I watched it for the first time. I could feel the excitement and turmoil as if I was on those streets, and rooftops, with them. I laughed with them, and cried with them. If you haven't seen this anime yet, you need to move it to the top of your list.

Then and Now : Thundercats

The original Thundercats, from 1985, are awesome. It's hard to stand up to a show that had such talented artists creating it, that they went on to work for Studio Ghibli. It also carries a nostalgia that makes fans defend it with vigor. I mean, who didn't get a rush of excitement every time they heard that opening theme start.

But lets not count out the 2011 remake. There are a lot of people out there saying how crappy it is. I think that's mostly because they don't want something from their childhood to be tarnished. I personally loved it. The new sleek character designs are as fitting to the children of this era, as the original character designs were for the children of the 80's.

I still enjoy watching the 1985 series on DVD. But I think it's an atrocity that the 2011 series only lasted one season. I wish they would ignore all the haters out there, and bring it back.

Wish List Wednesday : Rainbow Bright

When I was in the 6th grade, we had a devastating house fire. Of everything that was lost that day, there is only one thing that still haunts me. My original plush Rainbow Bright and Starlite. I don't even have a picture of me with them. Sure, I could go on Ebay and buy them. But it wouldn't be the same. They wouldn't be mine. I wish I could have back MY Rainbow Bright and Starlite.

Terror Tuesday : Watership Down

The Watership Down has been traumatizing children since 1978. I was only 5 years old when my mom popped this VHS in for me. What was she thinking? It was the first movie I ever watched that really terrified me. I had nightmares for days.
